Title: “Migration Literature and the Politics of Changing National Identity”
In Italy, migration literature, like the social reality from which it springs, is highly contested. Beginning with a handful of texts in the early 1990s, migration literature has now come to include thousands of published texts by more than 600 different authors, and is redefining the Italian literary and cultural landscape. My work deals with the reception and cultural impact of these texts, and specifically how authors use humor to write themselves into Italian society.
