Doug Weatherford will present for the Humanities Center’s weekly colloquium on Thursday, October 20th @ 3:00 PM in 4010 JFSB. Juan Rulfo (Mexico, 1917-86) is best known for a collection of short stories (El Llano en llamas, 1953) and a novel (Pedro Páramo, 1955) that would help usher in the so-called “Boom” of Latin American narrative. In the decade following the publication of these iconic texts, however, the Mexican author would search for new creative endeavors in the motion picture industry. This presentation is based on Weatherford’s efforts to better understand Juan Rulfo’s notable wanderings through film.
