The Adaptation Studies research group will be hosting film scholar and translator Claudia Gorman (UW Tacoma) 4-5 February who will be leading a two-day discussion about voice in film. Gorbman has translated been the translator for French film theorist Michel Chion and is also an important scholar in film studies dealing specifically with questions of sound in cinema. Even if you are not a regular participant in the group but are interested, you are invited to participate in the discussion.
2-Day Faculty Workshop: The Voice in Film
Translator and film scholar Claudia Gorbman, will lead a two-day seminar on the voice in film. All faculty members with an interest in media studies are invited to participate. The discussions will be such that attendance is not required at all of the sessions to participate. Come when you can. On Thursday we will be discussing the work of film theorist Michel Chion and on Friday we will discuss Gorbman’s own work on sound in film along with a discussion about publishing on media studies topics. A copy of the readings is included below.
