The Humanities Center is pleased to welcome Caroline Weber for a colloquium lecture on Thursday, October 22 at 3:30 PM in 4010 JFSB. Caroline is known for her scholarship on French literature, culture, and history, and has written extensively about the lives, ideas, and artistic worlds that shaped France. About our presenter:
Caroline Weber is the Tana Family Professor of French and Comparative Literature at Barnard College, Columbia University. Her books include Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution—an LA Times best seller and a NY Times Notable Book that has appeared in translated editions throughout Europe, South America, and Asia—and Proust’s Duchess, which won the French Heritage Society Book Award and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Biography. She has published essays on the politics of fashion and style in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Town & Country, W magazine, and Vogue, and has been a frequent contributor to the New York Times Book Review and the London Review of Books.
