Jennifer Bown, Associate Professor of German & Russian and her colleagues in the iCAMRA research group will present for the Humanities Center’s weekly colloquium on Thursday, February 20th. The presentation will be held at 3:00 PM in room 4010 JFSB.
Title: “Tracking the Development of Reading Proficiency”
This colloquium reports on a multidisciplinary project utilizing eye-tracking and machine learning to examine L2 reading proficiency development in English, Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese. The project aims to
- identify differences between L1 and L2 reading;
- identify reading behaviors that distinguish L2 readers’ proficiency levels;
- develop a database of eye-tracking measures;
- develop a diagnostic for reading proficiency.
