Marc Yamada will be presenting at our weekly Colloquium on Thursday, March 17th at 3:00 PM.
His presentation is titled: Coming of Age in Japan’s lost decades (1990-2010).
This presentation examines cultural responses to Japan’s “lost decades” of the 1990s and 2000s, a period characterized by economic decline, the downgrading of Japan’s international position, the growth of a disaffected youth culture, and other national and social crises. The discussion will focus on the way various forms of media tap into the social and cultural anxieties of post-bubble Japan while visualizing a horizon beyond the stagnation of the 1990s and 2000s.
