Title: “Early American Disability at Sea”
To be injured at sea was so common that maritime disability was a norm, not an aberration, and the effort mariners put into treating wounds made disabled bodies precious–signs of divine grace and human resilience. Eyring will be discussing this idea and others from her upcoming book, Saltwater: Globalizing Early American Grief.
