On Tuesday, November 10th at 3:00 pm, Ben Galvin, from the Marriott School of Business, with give a presentation on his research about leadership identity at West Point. All faculty and students are invited to attend via Zoom. More meeting details will be added as we get closer to the event date.

Title: “Leader Identity Trajectories at West Point: Understanding How Generalized Leader Identities Evolve and are Enacted in New Contexts”

Leadership scholars have spent significant efforts exploring the construct of leader identity. Notwithstanding these many efforts, there is a still a limited understanding of how the leader identity that is developed during one’s formative years evolves and is enacted upon entering a new organization. In this presentation, I will explore key factors that have helped West Point cadets form a generalized leader identity growing up, and then elucidate how the West Point experience influenced their enactment of that identity as cadets.
