MARS (Medieval and Renaissance Studies) group is hosting a lecture with Sarah Davis-Secord on October 8, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM in room 3714 of the Harold B. Lee Library. Her presentation is titled, “Intellectual Encounters in Medieval Sicily.” Sarah Davis-Secord is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of New Mexico.

Sarah is a historian of the early and central Middle Ages and particularly interested in inter-cultural and inter-religious relations within the Mediterranean Sea region. Her book, Between Three Worlds: Communication Networks among Sicily and her Neighbors in the Middle Ages, forthcoming from Cornell University Press, explores the intercultural relationships between Greek Christians, Muslims, and Latin Christians in the central Mediterranean through analysis of communications and travel that occurred to and from the island of Sicily.
