On Thursday, March 29. Caroline McCracken-Flesher (Wyoming) and Susan Oliver (Essex) will be visiting BYU’s campus, and the RVSG research group will hold two events that day:
1. At 1:30 p.m. in B192 JFSB, the EIZ Auditorium, Caroline will be giving a lecture called “Stories in Signatures: Visitors to Walter Scott’s Abbotsford and Jane Austen’s Chawton.” She’s been doing important work on author-home museums and the windows they offer into histories of literary reception, gender, etc.
2. At 4:00 p.m. in 4101 JFSB, we’ll have a work-in-progress discussion. Caroline, Susan, and Paul Westover will all be pre-circulating short papers related in some way to Walter Scott and Abbotsford. At our meeting, we’ll discuss the three papers as a set. If you would like to be on the distribution list for the papers, please let Paul know. We’ll send them out a week or two before the event.
