Jarica Watts, Assistant Professor of English will present for the Humanities Center’s weekly colloquium on Thursday, December 2nd. The presentation will be held at 3:00 PM in room 4010 JFSB.

Title: “Virginia Woolf, Textual Mothers”

Watts will discuss the research behind her manuscript-in-progress (a book of the same title), which will be the first book-length treatment of maternity in Woolf’s fiction. She will draw examples from seven of Virginia Woolf’s ten novels, including Jacob’s Room, Mrs. Dalloway, Night and Day, Orlando, To the Lighthouse, The Voyage Out, and The Waves, as she walks attendants through the complicated dynamics of feminism, modernism, and the maternal muse.
